***Update: The fix-it clinic for June 2015 has been cancelled due to Grandma’s Marathon falling on the same weekend as our fix-it clinic. With our downtown location, we decided it would not be feasible to still hold the fix-it clinic during Grandma’s Marathon activities and events.***
Every third Saturday of the month, Duluth Technology Company hosts free fix-it clinics in our space downtown. We facilitate these free community events because of our passion for rescuing and fixing broken electronics and our desire to contribute to a culture of sustainability through reuse. While our passion is electronics, at the fix-it clinics, all types of household items are welcome.
We always welcome volunteers at all levels of skill. Shoot us an email if you are interested, or even feel free to drop in on the day of the clinic.
Fix-it clinics will be held every month on the THIRD SATURDAY of the month, beginning in February.
What’s a fix-it clinic again?
A fix-it clinic is a community event where you can bring your broken household items to be repaired. Handy volunteers will help you diagnose your problem and help you fix it that day. If parts are needed, they’ll help point you in the right direction.
One of our goals in hosting the fix-it clinics is to save items from going to the landfill if they don’t have to. Another goal is to encourage people to learn how to fix their things and encourage a culture of repairing and recycling in our community.
How does it work?
When you come to the fix-it clinic, you’ll check in at our front table, and our check-in person will help match you with a volunteer who can help fix your item. You’ll stay with your item from start to finish and learn something about how it works along the way.
